EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. Eric Dickerson got the attention. Albert
Bentley got the ball. Combined, they rushed for 183 yards Sunday as
Indianapolis beat the New York Jets 19-14.
Dickerson, who was acquired by the Colts from the Rams Saturday,
rushed 10 times for 38 yards. Bentley, whose job as the starting
tailback is threatened by the acquisition of Dickerson, ran 29 times
for 145 yards.
The victory kept the Colts (4-3) tied with New England atop the
AFC East, a division they haven't won in 10 years. The Jets are 3-4.
"I accept it but I don't like it," Bentley said of the prospect
of losing his starting job to Dickerson. "But if that's the way it
has to be . . . He's a great player ...
