The decision to buy a house is one of the biggest and most
expensive most people will ever make - and they should do it without
the distractions of kids, pets or in-laws.
One of the most important rules of happy househunting is to do
it alone. Only the adults who are going to live in the house should
take part. It may be difficult to find someone to take care of the
children while parents review home possibilities, but taking the
little ones along can cause even bigger problems.
A former real estate agent recalled a family who took their son
and daughter on househunting expeditions. To avoid boredom, the
children were well supplied with peanut butter and jelly snacks and
