Mention Easter and some folks think hats. The Fourth of July
brings to mind the image of exploding fireworks. But Thanksgiving is
our only national holiday devoted to eating.
When the topic turns to Thanksgiving, my ordinarily rock-solid
analytical skills turn to cranberry jelly. I gush about sentiment,
smells and, of course, large servings. About the only other person I
know who is similarly afflicted with such fervor for the feast is
Marsha Norman. During the 10 years we have known each other, Marsha
has matched me drumstick for drumstick, anecdote for anecdote, in my
passion for the holiday.
