The man one magazine called the "Johnny Appleseed of
Playgrounds" comes to Chicago today to begin designing a unique play
area at Oz Park on the Near North Side.
Robert Leathers, 46, a nationally renowned architect from
Ithaca, N.Y., will meet with Park District officials, parents and
children to get an idea of what they want in a new playground near
Lincoln and Webster avenues.
And, proponents say, if what they come up with bears any
similarity to Leathers' 350 other creations scattered across 24
states, the results should be impressive.
Reven Fellars, a co-chair of the Oz Park Playground Committee,
got the idea to call Leathers after she saw one of his playgrounds in
Steamboat ...
