Q. I am a 30-year-old male, healthy in all respects, except that
I am having hair loss. I have heard of minoxidil, of course, but I
really want to use the female hormone, estrogen, for regrowth.
My reasoning is a study that shows boys who have been castrated
prior to puberty do not lose hair the way many adult men do. And in
all my 30 years I have never seen a bald woman. All the doctors I
have visited refuse to prescribe estrogen for me, even if I want to
sign a waiver of liability for it. Their objections seem specious to
me. Maybe they lack knowledge of my condition. Exactly what is
causing my hair loss? What's your view on estrogen?
