Many of us dream of piles of presents to greet us on Christmas morning. Others fantasize about family reunions, laced with laughter and nostalgia. Still more wish for a sublime vacation on a warm, sunny isle, far from freezing temperatures and icy roads.

Not me.

All I want for Christmas is a day draped in white. I want fresh snow to blanket my lawn, drift up to my windowsill and cover the naked tree limbs. I want it to cling to my eyelashes like good mascara as I run outdoors and build snowmen. Yes, I'm dreaming of a White Christmas, but what makes my dream different is that I live in Los Angeles.
