Aurelia Pucinski, slated by former Mayor Harold Washington as
the Democratic candidate for Circuit Court clerk, said Monday that
U.S. Rep. Gus Savage (D-Chicago) is straying from the late mayor's
legacy by opposing her candidacy.
A day after Savage vowed in a radio broadcast to work against
Pucinski's campaign, Pucinski said, "You cannot be talking about the
legacy of Harold Washington" and at the same time fighting candidates
endorsed by the mayor shortly before his death last month.
Savage said in his speech that he is a staunch supporter of
Harold Washington.
