Article: Our readers sound off on `Jimmy the Greek'

Last weekend's comments by Jimmy "The Greek" Snyder regarding blacks and sports, and his subsequent firing by CBS, prompted a swarm of letters from Sun-Times readers. Here is a sampling of those remarks.

Inappropriate or offensive remarks can be very costly if directed against the wrong ethnic or religious group . . . The Rev. Jesse Jackson, the presidential hopeful, was heard in 1984 by thousands of conventioners and millions on television as he tearfully and dramatically asked forgiveness for his remarks about Hymietown. "Jimmy The Greek" will do everything but commit hara-kiri to prove he is sorry for his verbal indiscretion.
