Mention the name Eric Simonson to people involved in the Chicago
theater scene these days, and they probably will say something about
his being "one of the most promising young directors in town."
Promise, however, would seem a conservative term for this
27-year-old theater artist. During the past 18 months, he has proven
himself not only one of the more sensitive and versatile directors
around, but also one of the most consistent.
With Simonson's latest triumph - a sparkling, eye-opening
production of William Shakespeare's comedy, "As You Like It," for
Bailiwick Repertory - he has more than delivered on his promise.
