Is your town house or apartment a hazardous waste site? The Wellness Letter of the University of California, Berkeley, warns that many home activities involve chemicals that are extremely hazardous to health.

Often we store these products in such places as medicine chests, cabinets under sinks, closets or, if we have them, basements and garages. And sometimes we dispose of them, but do so improperly. An explosive substance, for example, may pose a threat to a trash collector. Or a chemical may seep into the water system.
