Aurelia Pucinski has moved ahead of Jane M. Byrne in their
Democratic primary contest for circuit court clerk, a new poll that
was taken for House Speaker Michael J. Madigan has found.
The telephone survey of 500 likely voters in the primary was
conducted between Jan. 29 and Feb. 3 by Hamilton, Frederick &
Schneiders, of Washington, D.C. The firm's other political clients
include former Arizona Gov. Bruce Babbitt.
Sanitary District Commissioner Pucinski is leading former Mayor
Byrne 37 percent to 26 percent, with 23 percent undecided, 8 percent
for Janice Hart, a follower of Lyndon H. La Rouche Jr., and 6 percent
for Sanitary District Commissioner Thomas S. Fuller, the poll showed.
