Maybe President Reagan doesn't trust the post office, because he
will be making a special hand delivery to Notre Dame March 9.
That's the day the president will travel to South Bend, Ind., to
unveil a commemorative postage stamp honoring the centennial of the
birth of Knute Rockne. The legendary Irish football coach was born
March 4, 1888, in Voss, Norway.
Rockne, at 43, was killed in an airplane crash March 31, 1931,
after winning two consecutive national championships for Notre Dame.
His teams had 105 victories, 12 defeats and five ties in 13 seasons.
Tomorrow, it will be Chicago's turn again to honor the coach
with the highest winning percentage (.881) in college or ...
