SUNNYVALE, Calif. A man fired by a computer company for sexual
harassment of a fellow worker walked into the company's offices
Tuesday and opened fire, killing at least seven people and wounding
five, authorities said.
The man, identified by police as Richard Wade Farley, 39,
surrendered after barricading himself inside the building for about
six hours. Three officers grabbed him as he walked out with his
hands in the air, and he was taken to the Santa Clara County Jail in
nearby San Jose.
The shooting began about 2:30 p.m. in the ESL Corp., about 40
miles south of San Francisco in "Silicon Valley," when the man
identified as Farley entered the building. He carried a shotgun and ...
