Article: Medal could quiet U.S. bobsled critics

CALGARY, Alberta The U.S. four-man bobsled team may put up an Olympic medal to shut up its critics today.

After two weeks of backstabbing and badmouthing over the decision to allow Willie Gault to join the team, the U.S. sledders finally went out Saturday to do what they came here for - win a medal.

USA 1, driven by Brent Rushlaw, will enter today's final two runs in fifth place and within striking distance of a medal.

A medal in bobsledding would be the first for the U.S. since the bronze won by Thomas Butler's four-man team in the 1956 Games at Cortina, Italy.
