Downers Grove has become a favorite suburb with transferees. They're attracted by variety of housing, fine community services and good schools.

For the same reasons, much of the village's population, born in the west suburb, prefers to remain there.

Many residents are employed in the Loop, 22 miles away, or in the Oak Brook area.
