NEW YORK A major league fastball travels to home plate in less
than half a second.
Boris Becker's serve moves at more than 120 m.p.h., and any of
heavyweight champion Mike Tyson's 34 professional victims can attest
to the speed of his hands.
Athletes long have worked on their strength, speed and hand-eye
coordination in an effort to respond to such quick motions. But more
and more doctors and trainers agree that more disciplined training in
visual skills can enhance performance in sports.
"Everything you do will be improved when you improve your visual
