People who spend a lot of time in Las Vegas are not noted for
their down-to-earth quality. But that's what has kept
singer-songwriter Paul Anka, who will perform at the Chicago Theatre
Thursday through April 17, going strong for more than 30 years in the
glitzed-out world of show business.
"I had Michael Jackson in my home, oh, about a year and a half
ago," Anka recalled during a recent telephone conversation from the
Golden Nugget, where he had just finished another successful stint.
"He was asking me about show business. He wanted to know about
plastic surgeons and lawyers and accountants. . . . My Lord, his
