Article: Sly move will help Mille Miglia event

Jedlicka's auto world at large: I've never seen any country more openly enthusiastic about cars, especially sports cars, than Italy.

Last year, while participating in the revival of Italy's 1,000-mile Mille Miglia race, I marveled at the way Italy seemingly shut down for two days for the event held on public roads.

Many thousands, from very young to very old, cheered alongside roads during the Brescia-Rome-Brescia event, held for classic sports cars such as old but fast Ferraris, Maseratis and Jaguars.

The Mille Miglia gets worldwide coverage, so it was surprising the event didn't have an international celebrity at the starting line.

Things will be different at this year's Mille ...
