Herbs are not for witches only.
"Ten years ago there was sort of a mystery surrounding herbs,"
said Sal Gilbertie, author of Kitchen Herbs: The Art and Enjoyment of
Growing Herbs and Cooking With Them. "The people who got the
publicity for growing herbs were labeled as kooks, people into
witchcraft. Now the emphasis is culinary, which is their primary
use."
Gilbertie - the owner of Gilbertie's Herb Farm in Easton and
Westport, Conn., the largest producer of potted herb plants in the
United States - has created a book that will take you from dropping
the first seed to snipping the first foliage to creating an inspired
