The problem the Cubs face with Goose Gossage is explained in the
last three letters of his last name: Age. At one time, he was great
- years and years ago. But no more.
Jim Frey made a bad move by bringing him to the Cubs. They need
someone a lot younger to go with the rest of the team. Gossage is
washed up. Get rid of him.

Two suggestions: Either get rid of this overpriced,
over-the-hill has-been - or put him in the starting rotation.
As a starter, Gossage could surrender his usual quota of three
or four runs early in the first or second inning. Then he could be
replaced with a pitcher, and the team still would have seven innings
to come back and win. ...
