Warm weather is here, and with it, the insects. But with a
little vigilance and a bit of extra work, home gardeners shouldn't
have to resort to toxic pesticides.
There has been a revolution in organic controls - everything
from beneficial insects to the simple use of floating row covers - so
home gardeners now have many effective alternatives to chemicals.
Think about the consequences before using strong chemicals: You
will kill beneficial insects, as well as the pests. You may pollute
soil and ground water. The vegetables you eat may contain chemical
residues.
Instead, why not think of gardening as a contribution to
regenerating the earth, increasing microorganisms in the soil, ...
