Article: King Richard dethroned at Wisconsin Faire site

All is not well in King Richard's realm.

He's no longer reigning over what had been called King Richard's Faire, a medieval-type festival held on summer weekends on 80 acres along Interstate 94, just west of Kenosha, Wis., near the Illinois border.

King Richard's Faire, named for producer Richard Shapiro, was replaced on the same plot of land by the Bristol Renaissance Faire, owned by Colorado developers.

The new fair, which opened last weekend and runs through Aug. 21, features many highlights of the old one, including knights jousting, craftsmen and artists offering wares in a 16th century marketplace, and strolling minstrels.
