ISLAMABAD President Mohammad Zia ul-Haq was buried Saturday with
military honors and officials reported the arrest of airport security
staff members in connection with the Pakistani leader's death in a
plane crash.
Heads of state and other foreign dignitaries, including U.S.
Secretary of State George P. Shultz, attended the ceremony along with
tens of thousands of Pakistanis, who hailed Zia as a Moslem martyr.
A senior U.S. official said there was "no basis for any
speculation at this time as to the cause of the crash" Wednesday, but
acting President Ghulam Ishaq Khan said later at a news conference
that there was a "strong suspicion of sabotage."
