I'd almost guarantee either Cutlass Reality or Cryptoclearance
will win Saturday's five-horse, $500,000-plus Budweiser-Hawthorne
Gold Cup.
Both stand out from a class standpoint. Cutlass Reality will go
right to the lead or get that position early and become the horse to
catch. Cryptoclearance can really explode in the stretch.
The other three entrants in the 1 1/4-mile grind don't catch my
good eye. True, Nostalgia's Star won last year's 41st running of the
rich local race, but the field wasn't as strong and he may not be
quite the same horse he was then. In fact, he hasn't won in four
starts since.
If Manzotti can do any bragging it's because he has won four of
11 starts this ...
