Binding Spell By Elizabeth Arthur. Doubleday. $18.95.
Binding Spell is a very funny and exceedingly well-crafted comic
novel. Set in the tiny town of Felicity, Ind., the novel opens as a
young woman, Bailey Bourne, begins practicing withcraft and as Ada
Esterhaczy, who wants to see her granddaughter married and pregnant,
shows herself to be another sort of witch, using herbs in the
powerful potions she concocts.
Under the complementary spells cast by these two women, couples
find themselves breaking apart and coming together in new and
unexpected combinations, moving, at times without will or
consciousness, atoms caught in the force field of emotions - theirs
