North Kenmore Avenue, long known as one of the toughest streets
in the Buena Park neighborhood, is ready for reform.
A $7 million renovation project in the Buena Park Historic
District is scheduled for completion this fall, capping a five-year
rehab boom in the extreme southwest corner of the Uptown community.
Developer Charles Konkus, president of Exchange Development
Corp., is working on nine buildings - seven on the 4200 and 4300
blocks of North Kenmore and two in the 4200 block of Sheridan.
Helped by tax credits available for housing improvements in
historic districts, Konkus said each of the buildings will be "gutted
