Article: Villa Park still going on strong

Affordable, convenient Villa Park is a bedroom community with mostly single-family homes. Little land is left for development in the Du Page County suburb of 22,500 people, and new housing is scarce.

Villa Park got its start in 1914 when the subdivisions of Villa and Ardmore Park decided to incorporate into one village. The original population was 300.

The town grew as developers brought prospective buyers to the community via the Chicago, Aurora & Elgin Ry., which ran through the village. Also spurring the town's growth was completion of the only factory in the United States for the beverage mix Ovaltine. The plant remained in operation until 1983.
