To Edmonton Oiler fans, hockey can be a life-or-death
proposition.
Many of them have been proposing the death of owner Peter
Pocklington, who traded star center Wayne Gretzky three weeks ago to
the Los Angeles Kings.
"It's incredible - worse than ugly," Pocklington said of death
threats he has received since the trade. Most of the threats have
been anonymous.
"If they had any guts, they'd tell me to my face."
To which his critics might ask: Which one?
After the deal, Pocklington was quoted as saying Gretzky had "an
ego the size of Manhattan" and was acting when he cried at news
conference announcing the trade.
Pocklington said his comments were taken out of context.
