SEATTLE (AP) Holland America Line's Seattle-based travel and tourism companies will be purchased by Carnival Cruise Lines of Miami for about $625 million, the two companies announced Friday.

Officials of Carnival, one of the world's largest cruise lines, described it as a significant consolidation in their business. The announcement came one month after Carnival lost in its attempt to take over another cruise operation, Royal Admiral Cruises Ltd.
