In a world where food becomes ever faster - where fixing dinner
can be merely a matter of opening a box, putting its frozen contents
into a microwave and pushing a few buttons - Paula Wolfert offers
something else: recipes that take hours, ingredients that have to be
hunted for, and food meant to be lingered over.
"I just want people to believe in real food," she says. "Food
isn't just some laboratory experiment. It's something you do every
day. It's part of the kinship of your life. It's sharing. And I'm
trying to excite people, to show them that food is more."
