Article: New Mac: compact power, decent price

SAN FRANCISCO Apple's new computer is pretty impressive. Introduced at the just-concluded MacWorld Expo in San Francisco, the Macintosh SE/30 boasts speed comparable to the more expensive Mac IIx, and data compatibility with MS-DOS, OS/2, and ProDOS computers (e.g., Apple IIs).

All its compact power comes at a decent list price of $5,160 for a computer with 1 MB of RAM and a 40 MB fast internal hard disc. Configurations with more RAM (up to 8 MB) and a bigger hard disc (up to 80 MB) can be purchased. Street prices for the SE/30 eventually will come in under the list prices. The SE/30 grows the Mac product line to five basic models (Plus, SE, II, IIx, and SE/30).
