Frankly, my first memory of the film "Gone With the Wind" was intermission.

As a kid in western Canada, I didn't know Margaret Mitchell from Mickey Mouse. Our history classes had not yet addressed the War Between the States. After all, didn't that happen in a foreign country?

But the word was out. There was going to be a movie with an intermission. That was "gee, gosh, golly" stuff. Imagine! Something so long, they had to stop in between.
