Giant Food LLC, which is selling its corporate campus in Landover,
said yesterday that it may pull out of Prince George's County
altogether, severing a 48-year-old relationship.
Prince George's County officials were caught off guard by Giant's
announcement this week that it would close its headquarters and four
other facilities on its 80-acre Landover campus and eliminate as many
as 500 jobs. County officials tried unsuccessfully to meet with Giant
executives over the past several months to discuss the supermarket
chain's plans, said Kevin J. Malachi, senior vice president of the
Prince George's County Economic Development Corp. But Giant was
