CHAMPAIGN It was just like old times Wednesday night at Assembly
Hall for Illinois junior guard Kendall Gill.
He kissed a sweet 18-foot jumper off the glass for his first
basket in six weeks. He hit a couple of three-point shots. He
dunked off a fast break. He stole the ball twice. He blocked a
shot. He scored, drew a foul on Iowa's B.J. Armstrong and pumped his
fist in the air. He brought the 16,552 fans to their feet again and
again and again.
And just as it had before he suffered a broken left foot
against Georgia Tech on Jan. 22, Gill's presence cranked the Illini
up to the lofty level they had reached while winning their first 17
games this season and ascending to the No. 1 ...
