Article: 2 lawmen slain in Jordan at riot victim's funeral

AMMAN Two law enforcement agents were shot to death Thursday and four others were wounded in a gunfight that broke out at the funeral of a man killed in anti-government demonstrations this week, residents in southern Jordan said.

That brought the unofficial toll to 10 dead and 34 injured since protests against new austerity measures broke out in several towns and cities in southern Jordan on Tuesday.

The government has put the toll at two dead and 18 injured.

Residents of Mazar, a village in the Karak region 75 miles south of here, said the agents killed Thursday belonged to the Bedouin security force known as Badiya.
