Article: Music Center classes aren't just for geniuses // North Shore school strives for diversity

This is going to be a heady week for Winnetka's Music Center of the North Shore.

Monday night, Chicago Symphony Orchestra maestro Georg Solti will be the guest of honor at a black-tie-optional benefit for the school in the Hyatt Regency Chicago. Several hundred people are expected to attend, paying $125 each for the dinner, performances by Music Center students and a raffle. The AON corporation, a major supporter of Lyric Opera of Chicago, is underwriting the evening.

"We are extremely proud that Solti has agreed to do this, because he just doesn't do this kind of thing for anybody," said Frank Little, the Music Center's executive director.
