MILWAUKEE Monday's White Sox-Brewers game in County Stadium was
postponed because of very wet grounds and very cold air. That was
fine with most of the White Sox.
Although this team plays in Chicago, most of the players were
born, raised and still live in warm climates. But they have played
in 70-degree temperatures only once since the opening series on the
West Coast, which they finished with a 5-4 record.
"Tony LaRussa used to fine us if we talked about the cold," said
Greg Walker. ""But it definitely affects you. I don't think there's
any doubt it's an advantage to play in warm weather. Look at Texas,
California and the dome teams. It's always cold for us. But this
