It was about 8 o'clock on a Friday evening. We were headed back
into the city after an early dinner and a short but pleasant visit
with my wife's sister, who lives in Hinsdale.
"How come you're not taking the expressway?" my wife asked as I
swung onto Ogden Avenue.
"I thought that while we were out this way, I'd stop at Stein's
(on Ogden Avenue in Lyons) and check out the mish mosh soup," I
