Alexis Lichine, 75, a Russian-born wine expert and author of
many popular books about wine, died at Chateau Prieure-Lichine in the
Bordeaux region of France. The author and wine grower was credited
with having educated many Americans about French wine through his
widely sold books, including Alexis Lichine's Encyclopedia of Wines
and Spirits. Mr. Lichine was married five times, including once to
actress Arlene Dahl. He was born Dec. 3, 1913, in Moscow the son of
a White Russian lawyer and banker. As Russia struggled its way
toward revolution, the family fled to the United States, and later to
France. Mr. Lichine was educated in Paris and at the University of
