Article: Mothers-in-law now get relatively good reviews

The mother-in-law, that much maligned member of the American family, has a new image these days - at least in the eyes of today's parents.

That is the surprising conclusion gleaned from readers' responses to Parenting magazine's survey "Mother-in-Law: A Help or a Hassle?" - the first of its kind to query both spouses on the subject. Most of the 3,500 husbands and wives who answered the questionnaire had favorable and even laudatory things to say about each other's moms.
