WASHINGTON Attorney General Dick Thornburgh posted a list
Tuesday of the dozen suspected Colombian drug kingpins most wanted in
the United States. And authorities in Bogota announced the arrests
of five suspects in the assassination of a presidential candidate who
had pushed for a drug crackdown.
U.S. prosecutors and diplomats also began steps, with
cooperation from Colombia, to secure the extradition of Eduardo
Martinez Romero, reputed treasurer of the notorious Medellin cocaine
cartel. He faces money laundering charges in Atlanta.
Police presented the five suspects in the Friday killing of
candidate Luis Carlos Galan at a campaign rally in the Colombian
