Article: Graham Chapman, 48; helped found Monty Python troupe

NEW YORK Graham Chapman, a founding member of Monty Python's Flying Circus, died Wednesday of cancer in Britain, a spokeswoman for the group here announced. He was 48.

Mr. Chapman was educated at Cambridge University and began his career as a doctor before the creation of Monty Python, according to a release from the Glenn Schwartz Company Inc., a public relations firm.

Monty Python's Flying Circus went on the air in 1968, bringing together the talents of Mr. Chapman, John Cleese, Eric Idle, Michael Palin, Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam.
