HALLANDALE, Fla. As if Easy Goer wasn't enough to worry Charlie
Whittingham in Saturday's Breeders' Cup Classic, the trainer of
Sunday Silence invoked the ghost of Man o' War for good measure.
The $3 million Classic, the richest race on the richest day in
racing, drew eight entries but was considered a two-horse race
between Triple Crown rivals Easy Goer and Sunday Silence with horse
of the Year honors on the line.
Whittingham hoped so.
"I think those others are a notch below, but you never know,"
Whittingham said Friday.
"They beat Man o' War, didn't they?"
The legendary Man o' War's only loss in 21 starts came when he
was beaten by Upset.
