Mike Tomczak can control his arm when he's throwing away the
football, his feet when he sees a crease in the defense and his
words and actions when times are trying.
But Tomczak can't control Mike Ditka's whims, blown blocks by
his offensive linemen or what fans think of him.
Knowing the difference between what he can and can't control can
make Tomczak a better quarterback than he was a month ago.
It sometimes gets confusing for a young quarterback. With all
the emphasis and attention, it's easy to see how the quarterback gets
to thinking he should be responsible for everything short of global
crises.
"I just have to worry about myself," Tomczak said.
