MIAMI BEACH In addition to sightseeing and the beach, the diversions
around Miami Beach are three in number: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Take all three at the Rascal House, up by "Motel Row" on Collins and
172d Street, and . . . kvell.
Kvell is a Yiddish word, and it can't be translated exactly,
but it means to gush, to beam with joy. At all times, Yiddish is
spoken among the clientele at the Rascal House - but, although the
food fits in the Jewish-deli category, the meals transcend ethnic
categories.
It is almost worth flying to Florida on Mondays for the Rascal
House pea soup; it may even be worth flying to Florida on Mondays
just for the croutons in the pea soup. My father, a ...
