Things could have been worse during Chris Ruzas' formative years
in Oak Forest. The Mount Carmel junior's father and two of three
older brothers were goaltenders - so, naturally, the pads were passed
down to Chris.
Being a family of goalies, they didn't develop rocket slapshots
to pepper their youngest sibling. But they were good modHOCKEY
HOCKEY els, and the Ruzas legacy is paying off for Mount Carmel.
Ruzas has been the key figure in Mount Carmel's trek toward its
fifth state title. Six-time Catholic League champion Mount Carmel
(32-6-1) faces Metro North winner Loyola (34-9-5) for the Class AAA
Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois championship today at 3 p.m.
at the Stadium.
