When the highly regarded interior designer Bebe Winkler, a former fashion model, launched "Bebe's Home," a collection of tabletop accessories in the fall of 1988, place mats became "place palettes," tablecloths or overlays became "table shawls," and napkin rings became "fashion wraps."

Since then, the Winkler collection of fringed and trimmed merchandise has grown from a line of three to 300 accessories, going beyond tabletop to bed covers, elegant towels, decorative cushions and fashion shawls. ...
