ARCOLA, Ill. Jean Louis Ledent may have come up with the perfect
blend of European and mid-American culture in this small town on the
flat Illinois prairie.
It is a combination French restaurant and bowling alley. It is
perhaps the only place in the United States - or anywhere else,
experts said - with a French restaurant and bowling alley under the
same roof.
The French Embassy Restaurant and Bowling Alley is found in the
shadows of a line of giant grain elevators at the junction of U.S. 45
and Illinois 133 in this pleasant town of 2,700.
