A.G. Spalding and Adrian "Cap" Anson aren't on the entertainment
roster at tomorrow's free family festival in the Prairie Avenue
Historic District, just south of the Loop.
But who knows? Maybe the two 19th century Chicago baseball
greats will wander onto the makeshift diamond in the district and
turn it into the city's own "Field of Dreams."
The diamond, set up in a grassy, open area just in front of
Clarke House, Chicago's oldest surviving dwelling, will be the site
of a baseball game at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow that will take fans back
120 years in time.
The game will be the main event during "Our National Pastime:
19th Century Baseball on Prairie Avenue," a festival sponsored by the ...
