When Jean Nelson first saw "The Wizard of Oz" on television more
than 30 years ago, she had no idea that Dorothy, Toto and the tiny
gang of movie Munchkins would become the source of big business and
big bucks. But almost a decade after opening an Oz specialty shop
and museum called the Yellow Brick Road south of Chesterton, Ind.,
Nelson has become the chief wizard of Midwestern Ozmaniacs.
Inside her whimsical store is a recreation of the Emerald City,
complete with a life-sized, mechanized Dorothy, her dog, Toto, and
even a Wicked Witch of the West who "talks" to visitors about the
Land of Oz.
